Ветрен дол

When you are flying to Bulgaria the closest airports to Vetren dol are Plovdiv-50 km and Sofia-100 km. The airport in Sofia has more flights, so it is probable, that you will land there. Here is the website of the airport:

From bus station south you need to get a bus to Velingrad and get off at Varvara, or take a bus to Pazardjik and use another bus to Vetren dol. The bus station south telephone number is: +359 2 72 23 45 The buses for Velingrad leave at: 9:30; 13:00, 15:00, 16:30 and 18:30. The bus at 13:00 does not travel on Saturday and Sunday. The bus at 18:30 travels Friday, Saturday and Sunday only!

When you get to Pazardjik there are two buses that you can use to reach Vetren dol from the bus station:

• Number 26 on the route to Semchinovo through the villages Zvanichevo, Bratanica and Vetren dol-it takes from 30 to 40 minutes to get there-there are two stops in every village. The ticket price is 1.10 lv.
• The Velingrad bus-it ravels faster and stops only once in each village. It takes 20 minutes and the price is the same.

When you get to Septemvri instead of Pazardjik by train or by car there is only one bus traveling to Vetren dol and it takes 20 minutes and the tickets costs 0.90 lv. The telephone for information of Septemvri bus station is: +359 3561 2456

When you are in Velingrad and need transportation to Vetren dol you can take either the narrow gauge train or the bus from Chepino bus station. The narrow gauge train has only three trains a day and it takes 1 hour to get to Varvara station. There used to be a narrow gauge train (750 mm.) in Vetren dol from Pazardjik to Varvara and stations in Pazardjik, Liahovo, Vetren dol and Varvara with the length of 16.4 km. It was opened on 27 October 1928 as a branch of the other narrow gauge train from septemvri to Dobriniste (still existing). This railroad was closed on a 1 of October 2002 due to the bad track and unprofitable ness. The station is almost destroyed now. The local people hope for an investor, who will run the train once again and connect them to Pazardjik by train like it was for 74 years.
